The United States Football week completed the penultimate week of its 2023 regular season with only one of four playoff spots claimed and no team eliminated from the chase. The Birmingham Stallions scored a dominant victory over the Houston Gamblers to capture a home playoff game. Meanshile, the New Jersey Generals muddied the North Division by holding off the Philadelphia Stars, the Pittsburgh Maulers stayed alive by defeating the Michigan Panthers, and the New Orleans Breakers hopped back into the driver's seat with a commanding win over the Memphis Showboats.

Week ten begins in Canton, Ohio, with the 3-6 Maulers up against the 3-6 Generals. The day continues with the 7-2 Stallions at the 5-4 Showboats. On Sunday back at Memphis, the 6-3 Breakers play the 5-4 Gamblers, and the 4-5 Stars take the field at the 3-6 Panthers.

The power rankings after week nine:

1. Birmingham Stallions 7-2

Despite clinching a home playoff game, look for the Stallions to be motivated to play well in hopes of finishing in first place in the South Division.

2. New Orleans Breakers 6-3

Thanks to a two-game winning streak, the Breakers just need a win to lock up a playoff spot. The defense created five turnovers in their victory last week, but the offense struggled to get on track.

3. Philadelphia Stars 4-5

The Stars have lost two games in a row by a combined seven points. Still, a win over the Panthers gets them into the playoffs.

4. Houston Gamblers 5-4

As running back Mark Thompson goes, so goes the Gamblers. Birmingham neutralized him last week and coasted to victory. Houston needs a victory and some help to keep playoff hopes alive.

5. Memphis Showboats 5-4

Memphis had its five-game winning streak as they committed turnovers and managed just a field goal. They have to win and hope the Breakers lose to grab a playoff spot.

6. Pittsburgh Maulers 3-6

With four interceptions, the Maulers ended a three-game losing streak. A win over the Generals sends them into the playoffs.

7. New Jersey Generals 3-6

The Generals played like the smash-mouth, running football team of last season in their victory over the Stars, ending their half-season skid. A win over the Maulers clinches a postseason berth for the second season in a row.

8. Michigan Panthers

If quarterback Josh Love repeats his four interception performance of a week ago against the Maulers, the Panthers will begin their offseason.
