MILFORD, CT - (June 22, 2006) The United States Basketball League (USBL) concluded its 21st season of play Wednesday, June 21 when the Cranes defeated the Patroons 122-110 in the final regular season game.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Garnett Thompson (Long Island Primetime)
Thompson registered double-doubles in each of his three games played last week and averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds per contest.
HONORABLE MENTION: Anthony Johnson (Kansas Cagerz)
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Matt Slaninka (NEPA Breakers)
Slaninka has taken to the boards of late, averaging 8 per game during the Breakers' road trip through the Midwest. His week also included a double double against the Dodge City Legend in his first game as a starter.
HONORABLE MENTION: Nathan Harris (Nebraska Cranes)
TEAM OF THE WEEK:
Brooklyn Kings
The Kings made a remarkable run during the season's final month, culminating in a must-win three game sweep of the Long Island Primetime to capture their third consecutive Eastern Division title. The Kings will now focus their attention on the Cagerz, their oppononet in the opening round of the 2006 USBL Championship.
