USBL alums sprinkled throughout NBA camps

Published on October 6, 2004 under United States Basketball League (USBL) News Release

MILFORD, CT – The United States Basketball League, Inc. (USBL) announced today that a great number of former alumni have been selected to play in various NBA Training Camps. This year 42 alums have been selected to tryout and hopefully are selected to play on NBA teams.

Players are not the only alumni to move to the NBA. Sam Mitchell will be taking the reign of the Toronto Raptors. Eddie Jordan returns for his second year as the Washington Wizards Head Coach. Lionel Hollins, Head Coach of the St. Louis Skyhawks in 2002, is an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies as is former Westchester Golden Apples Head Coach Hal Wissell.

"We are real happy that this number of players has been selected. I think that this shows how talented to the USBL is and the level of competition that we have on a nightly basis. The level of invites runs a great space of time, from a long time pro like Avery Johnson to rookies like Nate Johnson and Tony Bland. On behalf of the USBL I wish each of these guys good luck and we hope that they will be playing for an NBA team in the fall," stated Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer, III.
