USBL PLACES TEAM IN GLENS FALLS

MILFORD, CT- THE UNITED STATES BASKETBALL LEAGUE, INC. is pleased to announce its latest expansion team which will be located in Glens Falls, New York. The team is owned by McCormick Holdings, LLC with local businessman Dr. V. Ravi Chandran as the President and CEO. "I'm pleased to bring first rate basketball to the Glens Falls Civic Center, soon to be the home to the #1 team in the USBL," stated Chandran.

Chandran has hired veteran USBL General Manager Mike Sweet to oversee the new franchise. Sweet was awarded the "USBL Executive of the Year" in 2001 for his work with the USBL Champion Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs. Sweet has also served as the New Jersey ShoreCats Director of Player Personnel and as an assistant coach to Rick Barry during the ShoreCats inaugural season. Prior to coming to the USBL, he coached on the high school and junior college levels.

"This is a great opportunity for myself and the Glens Falls franchise to be involved with the USBL. The League provides great action and a high level of play for very affordable prices. We will strive to have a very competitive team in our inaugural year here in Glens Falls," states General Manager Mike Sweet.

USBL Founder and Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer III, who attended the press conference stated, "This has been our most successful off-season in the USBL. We have expanded with three new expansion franchises in important parts of the country. These franchises are all very vital to the USBL and we are sure they will be successful now and in the years to come. The Glens Falls franchise provides another east coast presence for the USBL." Also in attendance from the League Office was Ed Krinsky, Director of Operations and Dennis Truax, Director of Public Relations.

Mayor Robert Regan had this to say, "We are extremely excited to have the USBL in the Glens Falls Civic Center. I feel that bringing this team to the Glens Falls area will provide high caliber professional basketball for families to enjoy."

The Glens Falls franchise will be holding a "Name the Team" contest. The Glens Falls franchise will play its games at the Glens Falls Civic Arena in downtown Glens Falls. A schedule of games and events will be available in early 2002.
