April 13, 2010 - United Football League (UFL 1) News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - As part of this year's Digital Strategy, the United Football League today unveiled the first phase of a re-designed [1]www.UFL-Football.com website in partnership with Digitaria and Ooyala.
The revamped site is cleaner, user-friendly and boasts a design more in line with today's professional sports websites. Significantly, UFL-Football.com now has a branded presence with targeted news and content for each of the teams: the Florida Tuskers, Hartford Colonials, Las Vegas Locos, Sacramento Mountain Lions and future expansion teams.
"I am confident the enhancement to our website will appeal to all sports fans and will truly represent our exciting brand of football on an online platform," said UFL Chief Operating Officer Bill Peterson. "The new site provides greater opportunities for social media integration and is at the cutting edge of new website technology."
"Our focus this year is to build an online platform to support the league's brand awareness initiatives," said VP of Information Technology Tomas Llibre. "The Digitaria team truly captures the essence of our digital strategy and helps us create a cleaner, image rich user interface integrating today's social media components to promote user engagement. Phase two promises advanced graphical menu navigation, integration of our new video platform, enhanced player profiles and game information."
The UFL-Football.com website was built on Drupal, an open source CMS, while the video platform from Ooyala will feature high quality video and a more inviting live streaming experience.
In the coming months the second phase of the website will be rolled out with an increased story count, greater interactive features, in-depth player and coach profiles, and an engaging video gallery. Among the new features, fans can create and register their own personal accounts and there are sign-up forms for fan clubs, tryouts and season tickets.
"We consciously included a significant number of areas on the site where UFL fans can engage and interact with the UFL," said Director of Digital Media Nation Hahn. "The United Football League has always prioritized being a fan and community-friendly organization and this website reflects that philosophy."
