OMAHA, NE - Saturday, August 28 - The winner of the United Football league 'A Day In The Life' competition will shadow UFL Commissioner MICHAEL HUYGHUE during a busy Monday, August 30 in Omaha, NE.
ANDREW SKWARA of Rocklin, Calif., won the online competition, promoted extensively through UFL Facebook and Twitter accounts, that asked for written or video submissions from fans across the country explaining why they should be 'Commissioner For A Day'. He submitted a written piece about his dedication to the forerunners of the Mountain Lions, the California Redwoods.
Skwara, who is the Sacramento Mountain Lions Fan Club President, will meet the Commissioner for an early breakfast meeting in Omaha then will accompany him to Nighthawks practice at the team's Kroc Center home base.
The 'Commissioners' will then attend a luncheon to kickoff the '100 Yards of Glory' event that takes a rare look at the celebrated and untold stories of Omaha's football past. They will also hear special guest speaker Bernadette Suh, mother of Husker football great Ndamukong Suh, discuss the role that hard work, team values and strong character played in her son's success both on and off the football field and enjoy an exclusive preview of the exhibit. Nighthawks General Manager Rick Mueller will speak at the luncheon.
Following early afternoon meetings with the Nighthawks staff, both Commissioners will be available for media interviews before conducting further important UFL business matters as part of a busy day. Skwara has also been immortalized on the www.UFL-Football.com website where the biography has been added among the league's executive bios to mark his role of Commissioner for a Day.
Andrew Skwara biography:
Andrew Skwara was elected to serve as Commissioner for a Day, alongside Commissioner Michael Huyghue, for August 30, 2010. Andrew was previously the Fan Club President for the Sacramento Mountain Lions and upon the conclusion of his August 30 commitments he will return to the position. Outside of his United Football League "MoLo" activities he works at a local television station in the Sacramento area where he resides with his family.
During the 2009 season Andrew was a season ticket holder in the UFL, traveling throughout Northern California for games. He and his friends coined the term "Tree-fence" which became a beloved phrase for California UFL fans. With the 2010 season fast approaching Andrew will once again attend all Sacramento Mountain Lion home games and he also intends to make a road trip to Las Vegas to watch the Mountain Lions take on the defending champion Las Vegas Locos.
Following the conclusion of August 30 Andrew is expected to be voted "Most Envied" among UFL fans as the league has a number of unique opportunities lined up for him.
