Published on August 3, 2007 under United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - After 17 grueling weeks of regular season plus two weeks of playoffs, the United Bowl is here. The combatants are not new to championship games or to each other. For the third time in four years, the Lexington Horsemen will meet the Sioux Falls Storm with a championship on the line. Who will be hoisting the United Bowl on Saturday evening?

LEXINGTON (10-7) vs. SIOUX FALLS (17-0)

At Sioux Falls, SD - Sioux Falls Arena

Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central

The Storm won the Western Conference Championship last Sunday by defeating the Billings Outlaws 45-23 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Leading the way for Sioux Falls were QB Terrance Bryant and DL Cory Johnsen. Bryant completed 15 of 20 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns (both to James Terry); he also rushed for 11 yards and two touchdowns. Johnsen tallied seven tackles (three TFL) and a sack.

Lexington won the Eastern Conference Championship last Saturday by defeating the Bloomington Extreme 67-49 at Rupp Arena. Leading the way for the Horsemen were QB Eddie Eviston and DB Earven Flowers. Eviston completed 18 of 25 passes for 234 yards and seven touchdowns; he also had an 11-yard touchdown run. Defensively, Flowers made seven tackles (.5 TFL), forced a fumble, an interception and also broke up two passes. Also, in the game, RB Rayshawn Askew scored on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Eviston with 1:12 remaining. The touchdown was his 209th in his career, eclipsing NFL great Jerry Rice's 208.

This particular match-up between the two teams will be the seventh in four years, with Sioux Falls holding a 4-2 edge in the series. The contest will also crown a champion for the third time as Lexington won in 2004 to win another league's championship while Sioux Falls won United Bowl II last year.

These two teams met once during the regular season when the Sioux Falls Storm went down to Rupp Arena and beat the Lexington Horsemen 76-45 on June 23rd.
