UIFL Announce Week Nine Honors
April 30, 2012 - Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) News Release
FT. MYERS, FL - The UIFL is announcing the league's weekly honor roll for the week ending April 29, 2012.
Eastern Kentucky quarterback Allan Holland (South) and Cincinnati receiver Phillip Barnett (North) have earned the Conquest Cards Offensive Player of the Week honors. Holland was very efficient completing 14-of-17 passes for 228 yards and 10 touchdowns as Eastern Kentucky scored 105 points.
In Cincinnati's victory over Marion, Barnett came down with several huge receptions. He finished with four touchdowns on nine catches for 147 yards.
Scoring touchdowns was limited to offenses as both of the All-Star PR Cincinnati Defensive Player of the Week honorees found paydirt twice in leading their teams to victories. Erie defensive lineman Andre Portis (North) registered four tackles, including 1.5 for loss, two sacks to go along with his two defensive scores, while Lakeland linebacker Troy Johnson had five tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two defensive tallies.
Perfection helped earn both kickers their Trophy Awards Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Cincinnati's Brandon Yingling (North) was 4-for-4 on extra points and averaged 46.9 yards on kickoffs, while Florida's Ross Gornall was 8-for-8 on extra points with two UNOs and a successful onside kick. It marks the fifth time in six weeks Gornall has earned the south honor.
