Omaha, NE - In week seven, the Ice were unable to dethrone another unbeaten, Dusty Burk and James Walton proved again why the other UIF teams should be concerned with their surge and in Rockford, IL, the claws left the hounds screaming.
BLOOMINGTON EXTREME (49) over RIVERCITY RAGE (23)
Muhammad Abdulqaadir put the Rage on top by six in the first, but the Extreme answered with a seven yard pass from Dusty Burk to Glenn Johnson and two one-yard runs by Burk with the latter coming in the second. Rage kicker Derek Kutz then brought the score to 20-9 with 5:33 left in the half. The Extreme then went on a four score run consisting of a field goal and three TD's, with the first at 2:02 left in half and the last at 14:05 left in the fourth. Burk finished 15-21 with four passing TD's and had nine rushes for two TD's. James Walton finished with seven catches for 103 yards and three TD's. The Extreme have a bye this week and the Rage will visit the (1-5) Ohio Valley Greyhounds Saturday.
SIOUX FALLS STORM (49) over COLORADO ICE (20)
Defense wins championships, and the Storm got into the backfield in this one, sacking Matt Guitterrez six times and Ryan Clement two times. Leif Murphy led the Storm with 3.5 sacks. He also had 7.5 tackles. The Ice were 0-6 on third-down conversions, 0-3 on fourth-down conversions and just 1-4 in the red zone. Marques Smith carried the ball 13 times for 67 yards and four touchdowns. The Storm will meet the (2-4) Sioux City Bandits at home on Saturday, while the Ice will battle the (1-4) Billings Outlaws on the road Friday.
SIOUX CITY BANDITS (36) over OMAHA BEEF (29)
Craig Fobbe spread the ball around to three different receivers on three touchdown passes, hitting Ronnie Thomas, Sean Henley, and Rashaun Sanders. Early in the fourth, Ronnie Thomas caught his TD pass making the score 29-14 Bandits. The Beef then scored on two straight with James McNear connecting with Jamar Day and then running in for one himself, bringing the score to 29-29 after R.J. Rollins ran in for two extra. With 2:49 left in regulation, Fobbe connected with Henley for what would be a 23-yard game winning TD. The (2-4) Evansville Bluecats will visit the Omaha Beef on Sunday and the Bandits will visit the (6-0) Storm on Saturday.
ROCK RIVER RAPTORS (50) over OHIO VALLEY GREYHOUNDS (25)
Just as it was in Colorado, defense was a huge part in Rockford. Anthony Harris had two sacks, while his Raptors teammates Darius Jones, Nick Zeck, and Maurice Simpkins each had one. Ben Sankey threw five touchdowns, going 16-24 for 186 yards. Anthony Overstreet and Jeremiah Thompson each caught two from Sankey and Lawrence Bady caught one. Another key contributor to the Greyhounds' defeat was the 16 penalties totaling 106 yards. Greyhounds' quarterback Freddy Ray ended 20-42 for 196 yards and three TD's. The Greyhounds will host the (5-2) RiverCity Rage, and the Raptors will visit the (4-2) Lexington Horsemen Saturday.
