UIF update
Published on January 17, 2007 under United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Welcome to the United Indoor Football in 2007. With a new year come new faces around the front office. While Dakota Crow remains Executive Director & Commissioner, Tatum Keller has been promoted to Operations Director. Dave Holly is the new Communications Director. Miranda Moss is a graphic designer that also helps in operations. Mike Schmitz heads up the sales & marketing. Brad Green is serving an internship in the communications department. Kayla Schlechter will be joining the staff in late January to serve an internship in operations and communications.
The UIF map has changed since the end of the year as the Billings Outlaws, Colorado Ice and RiverCity Rage (St. Charles/St. Louis, MO) join the league. There will be two conferences. The Western Conference will consist of the Billings Outlaws, Colorado Ice, Sioux Falls Storm, Sioux City Bandits and Omaha Beef. The Eastern Conference includes the RiverCity Rage, Rock River (Rockford, IL) Raptors, Bloomington (IL) Extreme, Evansville BlueCats, Lexington Horsemen and Ohio Valley Greyhounds of Wheeling, WV.
League meetings took place at O'Fallon, MO last weekend. Thanks to RiverCity for being the host team. Some of the big news to come out of the session include a change in the Pass Interference penalty. It will follow the college ruling with it being a 15 yard penalty unless the infraction takes place between the goal line and the 15 yard line. In that case it will be a spot foul. If it occurs in the end zone the ball will be placed at the two yard line. The playoff format was decided at the meetings. Four teams from each conference will play in the post season with conference champions meeting in United Bowl III on August 4th. A highlight of the meeting was when Jack Baker was introduced as the new Director of Officials. He immediately endeared himself to those in attendance when he told them he was expecting to be booed instead of the applause he received. Jack has an extensive officiating resume that includes several major college bowl games and the Arena Football League.
