#5 EVANSVILLE BLUECATS 37, at #4 OMAHA BEEF 15 - The BlueCats defense held the Beef to their lowest scoring out put all season long by defeating the higher seed, 37-15 in Omaha. The Omaha Beef came out firing first and put seven points on the board in the first two minutes of the game. This would be the only touchdown that Andy Majors and his offense would score all game long. The Beef were held to one touchdown, two field goals and they did catch the BlueCats off guard one time for a safety to total 15 points on the night. Evansville looked like a crafty veteran playoff team as they had a TD in every quarter, including two in the first. Aaron Leak has one of his best performances all season long as he threw for 222-yards and completed 11 of his 25 pass attempts for four touchdowns. Leading his air assault was newcomer, Tommy Manus, who had 5 catches for 98-yards and two touchdowns. Levandar Segars and Tyrone Walker each had one TD catch as well. Defensively for the BlueCats, they were without stud linebacker, John Winchester. Winchester was hurt during Week 16 against the Storm and will have to sit the rest of the season. Picking up his slack was Tarron Acuff who had 7 solo tackles, 2 assisted, two pass break-ups and one interception that he returned for six yards. The BlueCats defense picked off Majors on four separate occasions. The BlueCats (8-8) now travel to meet the number one seed Sioux Falls Storm (15-0) for a 3:05 pm CST kick-off on Sunday, July 23 at the "Storm Shelter."

In #3 ROCK RIVER RAPTORS 37, #6 SIOUX CITY BANDITS 33 - The Rock River Raptors just barely squeaked out of the first round as the Sioux City Bandits took them to the wire. The Raptors then took control of the game as they outscored the Bandits, 27-7 in the second quarter to go into the half with a 34-17 lead. Sioux City would not give up as they scored 16 points to the Raptors three in the final two quarters. The Raptors were led by Ben Sankey and Ryan Aulenbacher as the QB's. Sankey went down just before the first half to a sprained ankle and sat the remainder of the game.
