UBII Offensive Backfield Match-up

July 25, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - The Lexington Horsemen have three of the top wide receivers in the UIF in Harry Lewis, Chad Spencer and John Cooper. All three are in the top 15 for receptions per game and Spencer/Lewis are the top two in receiving yards per game. Lewis broke UIF single season records with 5.20 receptions per game, 1,002 yards receiving and 78 receptions. Chad Spencer set his own records by catching 22 receiving touchdowns and having 68.8 yards receiving per game. John Cooper added 16 touchdowns and 507 yards receiving. On the ground, Derek Homer was fifth in the league with 471 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. The Horsemen have the number one scoring offense and the number two passing offense in the UIF this season.

The Storm receivers may not put up the numbers as Lexington, but their wide receiver core is as tough as it gets. James Terry led the team with 540 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns in the air. Ken Horton caught the most with 47 and eight TD's. Casey Veenhof and Matt Holmlund hauled in 14 and 9 touchdowns respectively. Veenhof became the Storm's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns in a career with 52. On the ground, Marques Smith was second in the league with 720 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns on the year. Smith also had 166 yards receiving and one touchdown. Smith took the Storm career single season record with his 182 rushing attempts and came up three yards short of the season rushing record.

With these red hot offensive threats, quarterbacks Eddie Eviston and Terrance Bryant should have no problem finding ways to score in Saturday's match-up. United Bowl II will be held this Saturday in the Sioux Falls Arena at 7:05 pm CST.
