Tyler Moss Breaks Through in Toss Loss to Charlotte
May 15, 2022 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
FC Tucson News Release
Tyler Moss scored his first professional goal Sunday against Charlotte Independence at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Tyler Moss scored his first goal as a professional Sunday and FC Tucson earned a man advantage for the final 25 minutes but fell short against Charlotte Independence at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
It was the first USL League One meeting between the two squads.
Charlotte struck first when FC Tucson goalkeeper Carlos Merancio made a diving save to parry away a shot from Khori Bennett, but Tresor Mbuyu corralled the rebound and snuck it inside the post.
Moss, however, equalized in the 38th minute.
The Carmichael, California, defender took a pass in the box from Elijah Wynder and calmly curled it around the goalkeeper.

We are level.
Moss was a four-year starter at Sacramento State before joining the club this year. Wynder, a 19-year-old on loan from USL Championship Louisville City FC, was making his first start.
Unfortunately, the lead didn't last as Laukoa Santos slotted home a low shot from outside the box for what proved to be the game winner just two minutes before halftime. Santos picked up a yellow in the 57th minute and a second just eight minutes later to get sent off.
GOALS

QUOTES
"I thought we did a much better job moving the ball, especially between the 25 to the 45. We produced a lot of possession, but couldn't hit the frame; couldn't break down the low block. The last bit of quality just wasn't there." - FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman
"We just walked away feeling like we should have gotten a point. It's just been a lot of games like this. We feel like we're getting close. It's just going to take a result to turn the tide." - FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman
NEXT UP
FC Tucson (1-4-1 with four points) returns home for 520 Day on Friday, May 20, at Kino North Stadium. The club will take on Richmond Kickers at 7 p.m., in a rematch of FC Tucson's playoff win from last year.
