ORLANDO, FL - With the official opening of training camp set for tomorrow, the Florida Tuskers made several roster moves on Sunday.
The Tuskers added linebacker Chris Campa (Louisville), defensive tackle Antwon Burton (Temple), tight end Mitch Ryan (San Diego), and offensive linemen Phil Bogle (New Haven) and Torrin Tucker (Southern Miss).
In addition, the team announced three players would not be reporting to camp on Monday. Former Tampa Bay Bucs defensive tackle Ellis Wyms and linebacker Erik Pedersen (Portland State) did not pass their physicals, while tight end Jason Pociask signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
A native of Orlando, Campa played at Butler Community College before transferring to the University of Louisville. At Butler, Campa helped lead the team to a 23-1 record, including a national championship.
Burton spent time in the NFL with Denver, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Carolina and St. Louis, including a stint on the Rams active roster. At Temple, Burton played in 22 games and made 16 starts in two seasons. As a senior, he posted 66 tackles with four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and three pass breakups.
Ryan excelled at both tight end and on special teams at San Diego. A four-year letterman, Ryan averaged 14.7 yards per catch on 39 career receptions for 574 yards. He had nine touchdown receptions.
A veteran offensive tackle, Tucker played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-05, where he played in 36 career games and made 24 starts. Over the last four seasons, Tucker also spent time with Tampa Bay, Oakland and Houston.
A four-year starter at New Haven, Bogle was an undrafted free agent signee by the San Diego Chargers in 2003. He made the team as a rookie, playing in 16 games and starting 13 at both guard and tackle. Bogle also played two seasons in the Arena Football League (2007-08), where he earned first team All-Arena both seasons and helped the Soul to the 2008 AFL championship.
