
Tulsa Roughnecks Announce Head Coach Michael Nsien

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced today that Michael Nsien has signed a two-year contract to serve as Head Coach of Tulsa's USL Championship club.
"We are excited to announce Michael as the next head coach of the Tulsa Roughnecks FC," said Barry Williams, President of the Roughnecks. "We interviewed several candidates, but Michael stood out from everyone. He is a Tulsa native, is highly respected around the country as a coach, and he shares our vision for how we are going to turn the Tulsa Roughnecks into a winning franchise."
Nsien played for the University of Dayton before a professional career that saw him compete for the LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers. Holder of USSF "A" and UEFA "A" coaching licenses, Nsien plans to sit for his USSF Pro License this year. He has spent time with historic European clubs Benfica, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City at their respected academies.
"As a Native Tulsan and a passionate student of the game of soccer, I could not be more excited and prepared to be named the Head Coach of the Tulsa Roughnecks. Tulsa and soccer are two things that have genuinely given me everything that I value in my life," said Nsien, "I cannot imagine a better way to give back to the game and to the city than to put together a successful team and franchise. I look forward to representing the city and club to the best of my ability. I am thankful for the support that everyone has given me."
Nsien has previously directed and coached numerous teams including the South Bay Force, Tulsa Thunder Soccer Club, TSC Hurricane Soccer Club, and Blitz United Soccer Club. He served as the interim Head Coach for the Tulsa Roughneck's during the 2018 season.

The Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. was reborn in 2015 when the professional soccer club began play in the United Soccer League (USL). The Roughnecks play in the USL Championship, one of the most successful professional soccer leagues in the world. The 2017 season marked the Roughnecks most successful campaign, as the team earned its first-ever playoff appearance.
