TRULUCK STAYS TRUE TO DETROIT

AFL'S ROOKIE OF THE YEAR RE-SIGNS WITH FURY

AUBURN HILLS, MICH.- The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League announced that the AFL's Rookie of the Year, OL/DL R-Kal Truluck has re-signed. Per AFL policy, terms of the contract remain undisclosed.

Truluck was a virtual nightmare to opposing quarterbacks last season, as he recorded 8.5 sacks in 12 games, second best in the league. He also totaled 18 tackles (13UT-5AT) and four forced fumbles. The 6-4, 270-pound Brooklyn, NY native also pulled in one pass for 12 yards and scored on the play.

"We believe that R-Kal had a fantastic season on the defensive side of the ball," said Head Coach Mouse Davis. "We expect R-Kal to have an even better year in 2002 and are happy to have him back with our club."

Truluck spent all of the 2000 season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He registered 53 tackles and seven sacks in 18 games. The 26-year old graduate of Cortland State also saw action in three games for the Roughriders in 1998. Truluck spent the 1997 season on the Washington Redskins practice squad.

The Fury host the Buffalo Destroyers in their first preseason game of the year at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Saturday, March 30 at 7:30 PM. Detroit's second and final game of the preseason is set for Tuesday, April 9 at The Palace at 7:30 PM and is free to the public.
