Trenton Ironhawks Add ECHL Veteran Forward Isaac Johnson

TRENTON, N.J. - The Trenton Ironhawks announced today that the team has signed forward Isaac Johnson ahead of the organization's inaugural 2026-27 season.

Johnson, 27, enters his sixth professional season after building an extensive résumé in the ECHL. The right-shot forward has recorded 188 points on 73 goals and 115 assists in 200 career ECHL games. Johnson has also earned multiple ECHL Player of the Month honors during his professional career.

Most recently, Johnson recorded eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points in 42 games with the Iowa Heartlanders during the 2025-26 season. He has also appeared in 30 career AHL games with the Manitoba Moose and Toronto Marlies, recording four goals and five assists.

Johnson enjoyed the most productive season of his professional career in 2023-24 with the Newfoundland Growlers, posting 31 goals and 37 assists for 68 points in 50 games. The 68-point campaign came after Johnson recorded 45 points in 36 games with Newfoundland during the 2022-23 season, including 18 goals and 27 assists.

The Andover, Minn., native began his professional career in the Southern Professional Hockey League before making his AHL and ECHL debuts during the 2021-22 season. Johnson spent three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans and Winnipeg Ice, totaling 153 points in 161 career games. His junior career included a 73-point campaign with Winnipeg during the 2019-20 season.

Johnson will compete for a spot on the Ironhawks' inaugural roster as the team prepares for its first season in the ECHL.

The Trenton Ironhawks are proud members of the ECHL and are preparing for their inaugural season, beginning this October. The Ironhawks serve as the ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Hamilton Hammers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
