Long Beach, CA - The Tucson Toros outlasted the Long Beach Armada Sunday, winning 3-2 in 15 innings. Tucson came back from an early deficit to score two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game 2-2. That score would stand for another eleven innings as the pitching staffs took over.
Tucson start Dan Knox threw seven innings of two run ball, while fanning seven batters in the process. Beyond Knox, Tucson relievers combined to throw eight scoreless innings. Righty Rene Garcia was absolutely nasty, striking out seven of his own in 3 2/3 scoreless frames. Reid Price threw three innings without allowing a run to earn his first win. Brian Daly successfully protected a 1-run lead in the bottom of the fifteenth for his first save.
First Baseman Dustin Yount led the way offensively, posting three hits with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
The Toros will have the day off Monday to travel to Yuma where they will take on the Scorpions for a three game series beginning Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Tucson time.
