Toronto's Billings wins Player of the Month, Edmonton's Matthews wins Rookie of the Month

The National Lacrosse League has announced Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month award winners for February of the 2013 NLL regular season.

Toronto Rock forward Garrett Billings, who ranks second in the league in both points (59) and assists (40), won the Player of the Month award. Edmonton Rush forward Mark Matthews, who leads the NLL in goals (28) and is tied for seventh in points (46), won his second-straight Rookie of the Month award this year.

Player of the Month

Garrett Billings, Toronto Rock (4 GP, 12G, 18A, 30 PTS, 16 LB): Billings recorded a combined 30 points (12+18), with a single-game high of 11 points (6+5) on Feb. 15 vs. Calgary, and 16 loose balls as Toronto posted a 2-2 record in the month of February.

Rookie of the Month

Mark Matthews, Edmonton Rush (6 GP, 17G, 6A, 23 PTS, 16 LB): Matthews recorded a combined 23 points (17+6), with a single-game high of seven points (6+1) on Feb. 15 vs. Washington, and 16 loose balls as Edmonton posted a 3-3 record in the month of February.

The NLL Monthly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the league's general managers and head coaches.
