The Texas Tornado were eliminated from the chance at earning a South division title last week, after the Topeka Roadrunners finished off the Tornado with a 4-3 overtime victory. Topeka swept the Tornado in the first round, best-of-five series, though two of the three games required overtime to decide a winner. The team now sets it sights on the ultimate goal, winning the Robertson Cup for the fourth time in franchise history.

Thursday, April 12th - Lovick's hat trick not enough, Tornado swept by Topeka

Jordan Lovick scored a hat trick, but the Texas Tornado's opportunity at a South division title was lost on Thursday after being defeated in overtime by a score of 4-3. With the win, Topeka wins the series, 3-0, and advances to the second round of the playoffs. Richard Young had the game-winning goal for Topeka, beating Joakim Jutras, who got the start after coming on in relief of Hunter Leisner in Game 2. The Tornado will still play for the Robertson Cup, however, being held from May 3 rd to May 8 th at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco.

Upcoming Games and Promotions

The Tornado will be the host team for the 2012 Robertson Cup, the championship tournament of the North American Hockey League. As the host team, the Tornado have an automatic berth into the tournament and now await the five opponents who will meet them at Dr Pepper Arena. The Robertson Cup is a six-day, round robin tournament featuring the Tornado and the winners of each of the five NAHL divisions. There will be three days of round robin play followed by a pair of semifinal games, with the NAHL Champions set to be crowned on May 8th. Ticket packages to the tournament include a ticket to all 12 Robertson Cup games and start as low as $72.
