Texas Tornado host NASCAR Superstar and 2006 Talladega Champion, BRIAN VICKERS on Friday, November 3rd
Friday, November 3rd, the Back-to-Back-to-Back National Champion Texas Tornado host the Alaska Avalanche at 7:30pm at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco. The night will be a very special occasion as NEXTEL/NASCAR Superstar, 2006 Talladega Champion, and driver of the #25 GMAC Chevrolet, Brian Vickers will be in attendance. Vickers appearance will be a part of the NASCAR Theme Night during the Tornado home game. The Tornado will be wearing special NASCAR racing-theme jerseys that we be auctioned off of their backs following the game, and each fan in attendance will receive a Commemorative 8 x 10 Brian Vickers Hero Card. Friday night will also be $1.00 Beer Night where fans can get a 10 oz. beer for only $1.00! The Tornado return the next night on Saturday, November 4th against Alaska for Texas Tornado Team Picture Poster Night. Everyone in attendance will receive a 2006-07 Texas Tornado team photo poster. Win streak at five as Tornado blows through Fairbanks
With three wins at home this weekend over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, the three-time defending National Champion Texas Tornado now find themselves one point out of first place in the NAHL South Division. With 8 games remaining on their current homestand against Alaska, St. Louis, Springfield, and Santa Fe, the Texas Tornado now have the opportunity to move back into first place in their division... a place they have resided since they entered the NAHL back in 1999. Thursday-The Tornado kicked off their weekend in grand fashion with a 5-2 win on Thursday over the Ice Dogs. #23 Stéphane Da Costa scored two goals, #14 Tom Brooks added three assists, and #7 Nielsson Arcibal, #8 Dylan Cooper, and #11 Ryan Fuller added goals for the Tornado.
Saturday-Behind four points from #11 Ryan Fuller and two points a piece from #8 Dylan Cooper and #14 Tom Brooks, the Texas Tornado earned another 3-goal victory for the second game in a row over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs Saturday night, 6-3. The Tornado outshot the Ice Dogs 46-21 for the game. Tornado goaltender #34 Thomas Tragust was a rock again in net, making several highlight reel saves. Sunday-With a 5-3 win on Sunday, the Texas Tornado moved their winning streak to five games and crept to within one point of first place in the NAHL South Division. #23 Stéphane Da Costa added two goals and first star honors, and goaltender #31 Corson Cramer got his first start and win since September 16, 2006. The sweep over Fairbanks couldn't have come at a better time for the Tornado who still have eight games remaining on their current homestand with the last-place Alaska Avalanche next up at home November 3rd and 4th.
Ryan Fuller named NAHL South Division Player of the Week
Texas forward #11 Ryan Fuller (Morgan Hill, CA) tallied two goals and five assists last weekend as the Tornado skated to three wins over Fairbanks. On Thursday, the Morgan Hill, Calif., native netted a power-play goal and an assist in a 5-2 Tornado win. Fuller rang up the game-winning goal and three assists on Saturday night as Texas downed the Ice Dogs, 6-3. He added another assist in the Tornado's 5-3 victory on Sunday. This season, Fuller leads the Tornado in scoring with 8 goals and 8 assists, including 5 power play goals in 15 games played.
