Texas Tornado News Release

The Texas Tornado will be holding tryouts for the Tornado Siren Dancers at Dr Pepper Arena on Saturday, September 8th. The tryout will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the ice at the Stars practice rink before moving to the south end of Dr Pepper Arena for the dance portion of the tryout at 9:00. It is expected to run until about 11:00 a.m. The tryouts will begin on the ice this season because, for the first time, the Siren Dancers will be skating in addition to dancing along the concourses.

"It's important to give the fans as much entertainment as possible throughout the entire game," Siren Dancer Director/Choreographer Ashley Schimd said. "Giving the Siren Dancers the opportunity to skate this year will help showcase how talented this group is."

Schmid took over the job just last week and is already expanding the program beyond just game performances. She expects this year's group to be very active and visible throughout the Metroplex, not simply to promote the team, but to foster goodwill, as well.

" This year the goal for the Siren Dancers is to give back to the community by doing at least three charity events per month," Schmid said. "Our first charity event, Break the Silence of Ovarian Cancer, is scheduled for September 22nd. We will also be hosting children's camps every six weeks."

The next set of prep classes will be held on Sunday, August 19th at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Centre for Dance in Dallas. Each class is $15 and is payable by either cash or check. For any further questions, you can contact Schmid via email at Ashley@TornadoHockey.com .
