FRISCO, Tex. - So what if we played the only game in the league's opening week? Frisco Thunder quarterback Wes Cooper and defensive lineman LaMont Finley were named the Intense Football League's offensive and defensive players of the week, it was announced today.
Cooper threw for career-highs of 368 yards and nine touchdowns in the Thunder's 63-44 victory over San Angelo while Finley registered two sacks and seven tackles as the Frisco posted a fourth-quarter shutout to maintain the lead.
Kicker Dennis Hopovac, who was perfect on nine PAT attempts, was edged out for special teams player of the week by San Angelo's Antwane Andrews, who averaged a solid 14.9 yards on seven kickoff returns in a losing effort.
