SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Frisco Thunder defense held the San Angelo Stampede Express scoreless in the second half and scored nine points of its own Saturday for a 28-16 Intense Football League victory in the San Angelo Coloseum.

Snapping a two-game losing streak, Frisco (6-4) also vaulted from fifth to third place in the IFL standings thanks to losses by the CenTex Barracudas and the Alaska Wild. San Angelo slipped to 1-8.

The Stampede Express led 16-10 at halftime on the strength of two Daron Vinson to Tavarres Williams touchdown passes in the second quarter.

After switching quarterbacks, Frisco tied the game on backup Wes St. Aubin's 13-yard touchdown to Daron Lawrence with 8:59 remaining in the third quarter.

Don McGee's 45-yard interception return put the Thunder ahead 23-16 forty seconds later. The Thunder added Dennis Hopovac's second field goal and a safety in the fourth quarter while the defense perserved the lead. Shaylon Carter's interception with 1:01 remaining effectively sealed the victory.

McGee, a former North Texas standout, also posted six tackles and 72 return yards.

Frisco jumped out to an early 10-3 advantage, but was held scoreless in the second quarter. St. Aubin finished 11 of 18 for 109 yards. Three Thunder receivers -- Jason Deml (80 yards), Lawrence (76 yards, 1 TD) and Moses Harris (46, 1 TD) had six catches.

Williams finished with 8 catches and 101 yards for San Angelo.

Frisco travels to Katy next week, while San Angelo is idle.
