Frisco Thunder News Release

FRISCO, Tex. (January 29, 2008) - Former Texas Christian University running back Ricky Madison has signed with the Intense Football League's Frisco Thunder, Head Coach Troy Esprit announced today.

Madison's playing days with the Horned Frogs came to an abrupt end in 2003 when he tore ligaments in his right knee early in a game with Navy in week two. The previous game, he had earned the Conference USA player of the week award following a 206 total yard (115 rushing, 91 receiving, including an 80-yard TD) in TCU's season-opening 38-35 win at Tulane.

The Kimball HS product carried the ball 377 times in his career for 1,546 yards, including a career-high 719 yards as a junior, when he averaged 4.6 yards per carry. Two of his five 100-yard rushing games came against Louisville, including a career-best 156 yard day his sophomore year.

"His knee looked perfectly fine when he worked out and I'm excited to Ricky on board," Esprit said. "This is what our league is about - giving players the opportunity to reach the goals they have set for themselves since the begining of their football careers. Ricky will complement our team in a variety of ways due to his versatility."

A playoff team in their inaugural season, the Thunder hosts the opening game of the 2008 Intense Football League season on Saturday, March 1st at 6 p.m. against the San Angelo Stampede Express. All home games will be played in the Deja Blue Arena, located in the Frisco Dr Pepper StarCenter. Season and individual tickets are available now at 972-731-6968.
