Thunder Sign Two More

BOARDMAN, Ohio- The Mahoning Valley Thunder held an open tryout Saturday January 5th in preparation for the team's 2008 season. 53 players participated in the one day tryout held under the direction of Thunder Head Coach Mike Hold. Participants came from a variety of locations in Ohio as well as Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota among others.

Immediately following Saturday's tryout, Head Coach Mike Hold signed Marc Burr to the 2008 roster. A native of Cincinnati, WR Burr (6'0, 185) was named a Don Hansen Football Gazette NAIA All-American in 2006 as a member of Urbana University (Urbana, OH). As a senior, Burr caught 53 passes for 807 yards and 12 scores. Marc rewrote the Blue Knights record books setting the school record for receiving touchdowns in a game (4) and receiving touchdowns in a season (12). He spent the 2007 rookie mini-camp with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, 2008 will be his first season in af2.

FORMER VANDERBILT WIDE RECEIVER JOINS THUNDER

A second addition to the Thunder roster was announced earlier today. In conjunction with the arenafootball2 League Office, the Thunder is pleased to announce that Marlon White has been assigned to the 2008 roster. WR/DB White (6'4, 210) enters his first season in af2.

White, of Macon, GA joins Mahoning Valley after spending his college career with Vanderbilt University. In four seasons with the Commodores, White hauled in 109 receptions totaling 1,359 yards and 13 touchdowns. After posting 21 receptions for 239 yards and 3 scores in the 2003 season, White was named to the All-SEC (South Eastern Conference) Freshman Team.

ADDITIONS BRING SIZE AND SPEED TO ROSTER

"Marlon has excellent size for a receiver he's the kind of big target you look for near the end zone. And Marc's a speedy guy that's produced at every level. He gets in and out of his routes very quickly." Thunder Head Coach Mike Hold said. "We're excited about adding both of these guys to our roster this allows our offense to have a little more flexibility."
