Frisco Thunder News Release
FRISCO, Tx. - The Frisco Thunder held their open tryouts for their 2008 campaign this past Saturday at the Legacy Christian Academy. Over 60 players from numerous states gathered to display their athletic ability to head coach Troy Esprit and his coaching staff.
"Overall, I think that the tryouts went great. I was very pleased with how smoothly everything went, and I would like to thank Zoom Sports for their assistance today. They did an outstanding job helping the staff keep everything efficient and professional."
Participants went through a series of performance drills, including speed agility tests, blocking exercises, and some one-on-one position drills to exhibit their football skills. Owner Jake Reed was excited about the turnout.
"This was a nice turnout for our second season. It's outstanding to see the athletes from the local areas and colleges coming out to display their talents. We're expecting good things in '08."
Coach Esprit shared the owner's excitement. "I was impressed with some of the local talent that came out today," Coach Spree said. "I'm looking forward to seeing some of the local guys making the cut and playing professionally in front of their friends and family."
The Thunder coaching staff has extended invitations to fifteen players for an invitation-only workout early in 2008, at which point the 2008 roster will be finalized.
