
Thunder earn win at Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder recorded a 64-59 road victory over the Albany Conquest in front 5,619 fans at the Times Union Center on Friday night. The Conquest led 35-33 at halftime but saw the Thunder outscore the home team 31-24 in the second half en route to the win.
Mahoning Valley QB Glen Gauntt completed 23 passes for 247 yards with 8 touchdowns in the win, connecting on a pair of TD scores with four different receivers. The Thunder recorded the win even though the Conquest turned in a 330 to 234 yards of total offense advantage. Mahoning Valley posted back-to-back touchdowns late in the third quarter and again early in the fourth to pull away.
Conquest QB Ryan Hart threw for 330 yards with seven TDs in his af2 debut for Albany. His favorite target was WR Chris Curd, who pulled in five receptions for a game-high 133 receiving yards with three touchdowns in his Conquest debut. Albany WRs Bakari Brown and Antwun Williams each had solid games with 90 and 80 receiving yards respectively. Brown was especially effective on the kick return where he ran for 208 yards on 11 returns.
The Albany Conquest return to action on Saturday, April 14th when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in a 7:00pm kick-off at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
