Minnesota Thunder News Release
ST. PAUL, Minn. (Monday, April 10, 2006) The Minnesota Thunder will hold its first School Day game in St. Paul on Wednesday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. at James Griffin Stadium. The game is an educational exhibition intra-squad match between current Thunder players, and is open to all kindergarten through 8th grade students as well as the general public.
The game will have a distinct format, with three periods and educational elements after each break. Thunder players will present demonstrations emphasizing healthy lifestyles, education and staying away from tobacco and drugs. The purpose of the game is to provide students with a fun and unique educational experience at a professional soccer game.
Tickets to the event are $2, and include a game ticket and educational workbook. One free adult ticket will be given to a teacher or chaperone for every ten student tickets purchased.
Only 6,000 tickets will be sold, so schools are encouraged to sign up early.
Students will not be permitted to bring food into the stadium, but the concession stands will be open to purchase a Thunder Food Pack (hot dog, chips and drink).
