Thunder announces 2006 preseason schedule

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Wednesday, March 22, 2006)-The Minnesota Thunder announced its preseason schedule in preparation for the 2006 soccer season. The preseason schedule starts this Friday, March 24 at Fogerty Arena in Blaine at 7 p.m with an intra-squad scrimmage. There will be no charge for admission but Blaine soccer club will be taking donations.

The Thunder will be holdings its preseason camp in Indianapolis, IN this year with games against the Cincinnati Kings of the USL Second Division, Butler University, and the University of Michigan.

2006 Preseason schedule:

-March 24, 7 p.m., Intra-squad scrimmage, @ Fogerty Arena, Blaine-MN

-March 26, 2 p.m., vs. University Wisconsin-Green Bay, @ University Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, WI

-April 1, 11 a.m., vs. University Wisconsin-Milwaukee, @ Hudson Soccer Complex, Hudson, WI

-April 8, 4 p.m., vs. University Wisconsin-Madison, @ Fields for Kids, Lacrosse, WI

-April 14, 7 p.m., vs. Cincinnati Kings, @ Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH

-April 15, 10 a.m., vs. Butler University, @ Warren Central HS, Indianapolis, IN

-April 15, 2 p.m., vs. University of Michigan, @ Warren Central HS, Indianapolis, IN

The Thunder' home opener will be on Sunday, April 23 at James Griffin Stadium in St. Paul and will kickoff at 3:05 p.m.

In a partnership with Greater Twin Cities United Way, the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association, and Thunder P.L.U.S., the Thunder will be using this game as a charity event and as a kick-off event to the summer soccer season. The game will be complimentary and admission will not be charged. Instead, fans will be encouraged to donate the money they would have spent on a ticket to United Way and Thunder P.L.U.S. A portion of all proceeds will be given to these two non-profits.
