Thrillers Highlight Week Three
April 28, 2003 - National Women's Football Association (NWFA) News Release
Nashville, TN-The National Women's Football Association has completed it's third weekend of regular season play. Some great rivalries are being built and the race for the Championship is heating up. The NWFA is the largest tackle football league for women in the world.
This weekend saw some real down to the wire thrillers. One of the most exciting was the OKC Lightning and the KC Krunch which went over the wire into a DOUBLE OVERTIME with the Lightning winning by ONE POINT! Another exciting game saw the Panama City Beach Rumble score a 2 point conversion with 1:06 on the clock to beat the New Orleans Spice. Kudos to the Mutiny's Sara Moon who took the opening kickoff for the second half, all the way for a score and a win over the Rochester Raptors! The Phoenix braved some tough weather and put the ice to the Freeze in a convincing victory. The Baltimore Burn had a close one with The Columbus Flames and the Pittsburgh Passion and the Erie Illusion kept the fans in the stands cheering right up to the end. The Power showed why it's such a contender with a win over the Atlanta Leopards, and the Detroit Demolition proved again why they are champions with a very convincing win over the Indiana Thunder. The Cleveland Fusion made a statement with their win over the SW Michigan Jaguars and the Venom stayed in contention with a victory over division rival, Knoxville Summit. The St. Louis Slam had a close one with 2004 expansion team, Evansville Express. Congratulations also to the Chattanooga Locomotion who have taken over the lead in their division by beating the Alabama Renegades!
