This Week in the AIFA Shows Second Year of Growth
Published on October 7, 2009 under American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release
BALTIMORE, Maryland (October 6, 2009) - The American Indoor Football Association's pace-setting Internet radio program, This Week in the AIFA, will begin its third year in production with impressive audience gains. The program reached a new high of 6,800 downloads for Edition 61 of the program and maintained a pace of over 4,100 downloads weekly throughout the playoffs.
The download numbers represent an all-time high for the program and an audience growth of over 500% from one year ago. The program is available for download from two very popular sites, the home site for the AIFA (www.aifaprofootball.com) and OurSports Central (www.oursportscentral.com). Other sites also offer the program for download, but their numbers are not included in the audience totals.
"The AIFA is growing in popularity, and this program is certainly a part of that," said AIFA co-founder John Morris. "Indoor football fans want to keep up on the sport all during the year, and they enjoy hearing directly from the people making news in our league.
"This Week in the AIFA is the preeminent multimedia vehicle in indoor football today. It provides a tremendous outreach for the American Indoor Football Association and its member teams. It goes beyond press releases and Internet blogs, bringing the voices of the people making news directly to the mass audience."
This Week in the AIFA is produced and hosted by AIFA Director of Media/Public Relations, Bill Hazen, through his Chicago-based broadcast production company (Bill Hazen Productions). The program has served as a showcase for the use of new digital technology, aimed at providing "local quality" interviews from locations throughout the league. Each show makes generous use of this capability, giving the program its unique audio signature.
"Building an audience is much like building a sports franchise," said Hazen. "It's about quality and consistency. This program is produced to the highest professional broadcast standards. I think the audience understands that. Each time they download the program, they know what they are getting.
"There are some truly fascinating stories to be told in the AIFA. It's my job to make each program as compelling as possible. Our incredible growth this year is most gratifying. It reflects very well on the players, coaches and decision-makers from throughout the league who have taken time from their busy schedules to share their thoughts with our audience.
"None of this would be possible without the active support of AIFA co-founders John Morris and Michael Mink, as well as AIFA National Director Jack Bowman. They understand the value of reaching directly to listeners by utilizing the power of electronic media. This program succeeds in giving the AIFA its own voice, and the numbers tell us that people are listening!"
The next edition of This Week in the AIFA (Edition 68) begins the third season of the program. AIFA co-founder John Morris will appear in an extended interview, reviewing recent activity from around the league and reflecting on some of the outstanding moments from past programs. The show will also include a collection of funny moments from the second season, including some bloopers that never made the air.
This Week in the AIFA will be available for download on Friday, October 9th.
