Wilmington Jaguars News Release

The WomanÂ’s American Basketball Association is the premier showcase and developmental league for women. The W.A.B.A. organizes womenÂ’s basketball teams throughout the United States. The regular season will consist of a 20 game schedule with a full playoff format.

The Wilmington Jaguars are 1 of 5 teams in the W.A.B.A. showcase season. PennWood High School in Lansdowne, PA will serve as the JaguarsÂ’ Home court. Their original home court was supposed to be the Wilmington PAL center currently undergoing construction, but delays have forced them to find an alternate site. Saturday April 20, 2002 at 7:30pm, the Jaguars take on the Schuylkill Syrens at the Bell Avenue Gym on McDade Blvd and Bell Avenue in Yeadon due to an event at PennWood HS this weekend.

The W.A.B.A. and the Wilmington Jaguars hope to enhance the type of entertainment that is provided to the fan. Scheduling of the W.A.B.A. is formatted to coincide with the W.N.B.A. off-season. This allows representatives from the W.N.B.A. and international leagues to evaluate players for positions in women's professional basketball teams.
