Tucson Toros News Release
Tucson - This afternoon in the western setting of Trail Dust Town, Tucson Toros new Field Manager Tim Johnson, rode into the press conference on horseback.
The setting was before media, friends and "Tuffy the Toro" a live bull. The presentation included Toros Owner, Jay S. Zucker, awarding the official manager's Jersey to Johnson. Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, creator of the original Toros name, also participated by "passing of the bat" to the team's new "Skipper".
The Tucson Toros are the newest member of the Golden Baseball League (GBL). This brings a total of nine GBL teams to fans in 2009 and the Toros should be a strong contender for the title. The GBL begins its fifth season this coming year and is considered the premier independent minor professional league in Western North America.
