COLUMBUS, OH- Run 42 Sports Group, LLC led by LaMonte Coleman is proud to announce the expansion of professional indoor football to Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus Beast will be the first professional football team in Columbus, Ohio since 2008.
The Columbus Beast will begin play in March of 2014. They are slated to play at Stars Indoor Sports Facility, 6124 Busch Blvd. This spacious facility is best known for its numerous indoor fields hosting soccer, lacrosse, and football and is being modified to accommodate fans during the Columbus Beast inaugural season. The Columbus Beast will play in the Xtreme Indoor Football League (XIFL) and will don the Black, Green, and Gray Colors. The XIFL will offer fast paced, fan friendly, affordable entertainment while working hard to help players advance to higher leagues and reach their goals professionally.
LaMonte Coleman is no stranger to indoor football. He is the current president of the premier Xtreme Indoor Football League (XIFL) and just completed his third year as General Manager of the Marion Blue Racers Professional Football Team. In his first year as an owner and general manager, the Blue Racers reached the championship game in the Continental Indoor Football League in 2011. Coleman also was responsible for promoting seven (7) players and staff members up to higher leagues as a first year owner. In 2012, Coleman was named the Defensive Line Coach for the Arena Football League's Pittsburgh Power.
Coleman was an All American running back for Slippery Rock University from 1992-1994 and signed a two year contract to play running back in the National Football League with Super Bowl XXX runner-up Pittsburgh Steelers in 1995. Coleman has also played for various teams in the Arena and Indoor leagues. In 2001, Coleman was the Offensive Most Valuable Player for the National Indoor Football League while playing running back for the Johnstown J-Dogs. Coleman rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 38 times during his MVP season. Notably, he was the starting fullback/linebacker for the Arena Football 2, Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pioneers who were owned by Hall Of Famer Johnny Unitas in 2002.
