What A Game!
The Norfolk Admirals scored 5 goals in the third period on Saturday, March 10, to shock the Quebec Citadelles 5-3.
Entering the 3rd period, down 3-0, Norfolk wasted no time beginning their comeback when team captain Aaron Downey (6g, 19pts) scored his sixth goal of the season 30 seconds in. Just 62 seconds later, Josef Marha (14g, 38pts) knocked the puck past Quebec goalie Christian Bronsard (1-3-0 3.42GAA), trimming the lead to 3-2. The scoring barrage did not stop there when only 15 seconds later, Geoff Peters (9g, 17pts) beat Bronsard in front of the net, tying the game at 3-3 in just 90 seconds.
Norfolk would get a goal with 7:22 remaining from defender Jeff Paul (4g, 10pts) to take the lead. The Admirals sealed the game when Casey Hankinson (29g, 49pts) hit an empty net with seven seconds to play. The five third period goals was a Norfolk team record.
"The first goal came quick, then with the next shift, you are on a roll and we didn't quit...we knew if we could get one, we could get another and build off of that, it was the matter of getting the first one", said the Admirals' Blair Atcheynum (10g, 17pts) after the game.
