
Texas Tornado Announce 2005-06 Schedule

Frisco, Texas -Running from Friday, September 9, 2005 through Sunday, March 26, 2006, the North American Hockey League's 2005-06 schedule will consist of 580 games, the largest ever for the league entering its 30th season of competition. Each NAHL team will play 58 games, an NAHL record for regular season contests. And, unlike the previous seasons since the NAHL became a nationwide league three years ago, there will also be extensive interdivisional play. The Back-to-Back National Champion Texas Tornado will open their 2005-06 regular season in Bozeman, Montana against the Bozeman Icedogs of the NAHL West Division on September 16-17. The Tornado home opener will be against NAHL South Division rival, the Springfield Jr. Blues on September 23rd and 24th at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco at 7:30pm both nights. During the Opening Night game, the Tornado will have a special ceremony to unveil and recognize the new National Championship banners won last season.
The Texas Tornado 2005-06 home schedule will consist of 30 games (27 regular season, 3 exhibition) and will be structured heavily around divisional play against South Division rivals: Santa Fe Roadrunners (6 home/6 away), Springfield Jr. Blues (2 home/2 away), Texarkana Bandits (6 home/6 away), and Wichita Falls Wildcats (5 home/5 away). The Tornado will also play a total of 20 games outside of the South Division, including four at the annual NAHL Fall Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota (October 19-22), four against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (2 home/2 away), four against the Wasilla (Alaska) Spirit (2 home/2 away), four against the Bozeman Icedogs (2 home/2 away), and four against the Traverse City North Stars (2 home/2 away). The longest home stand of the season this season will be two, four-game stretches from February 4-22 (Traverse City, Fairbanks (2), and Texarkana), and March 17-25 (Wichita Falls (2) and Santa Fe (2)). The Tornado has three separate road-trips that will consist of six games in a row on the road. The first will be from October 13-22 (Texarkana (2) and the NAHL Showcase), second is November 3-12 (Wasilla (2), Fairbanks (2), and Texarkana (2)), and last is December 10-January 6 (Wichita Falls, Santa Fe (3), and Texarkana (2)).
Notable Home Games Include: Opening Night and Banner Ceremony against the Springfield Jr. Blues (September 23), Halloween weekend games against Santa Fe and Texarkana (October 28 and 29), three games during Thanksgiving weekend against Wichita Falls (November 23) and Texarkana (November 25 and 26), three games against Santa Fe during Martin Luther King Jr. weekend (January 13-15), Traverse City's first trip to the Deja Blue Arena on Groundhog Day (February 2), and six home games during the last month of the regular season in March, including the final regular season weekend against Santa Fe (March 24-25).
