Texas A & M's Josh Washington to bring Record Breaking 3 – Point Shot to the Fresh

August 29, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Fort Worth - Media and interested viewers have either been excited or have criticized the potential arrival of Isaiah "J.R." Rider! "Negativity comes with the territory," stated Jay Bowdy, Owner/CEO. "As long as I know my community is proud of what we are doing for the North Texas communities, then that's what matters to me. I have received much thanks from all groups of people on the establishment and growth of this franchise and we will do great; even with criticism towards our name and our mission."

North Texas Fresh has been one of the most talked about teams in major or minor sports news with the possibility of former NBA star J.R. Rider joining the Fresh. "We believe in giving all players a fair chance and I'm glad Mr. Bowdy isn't judgmental on a person's past, but more so on how they are as a part of this organization," stated Coach Aaron Evans.

One thing no one can criticize is the lights out 3 - point shooter by the name of Josh Washington, former star at Texas A & M Corpus Christi. 90 three point makes in one season has put the long range gun slinger on top of the record books; not to mention hitting 8 three pointers in one game as well.

"Don't leave him open," stated Evans. "Matter of fact, don't let him touch the ball."

Washington has proven on numerous occasions that he is a threat from outside with his experience at the Division I level and overseas. "I feel excited that this is another opportunity to continue my basketball career with a great organization that cares about the players and also the community as well," stated Washington. "The Fresh are ready to take the talent level of the ABA to new heights and I know everyone is anxious to see what a player who has overseas experience can bring to a brand new team. I'm ready to make that immediate impact this first season in the ABA."

Veteran Camp starts in September for the Fresh and an exhibition game is scheduled to happen in the beginning of October.

"I know Josh will do well in Camp and I expect him to be a major contributor on the floor this year and show the spectators why we brought him in from Lubbock, Texas," stated Bowdy. "This is just another valuable piece to our puzzle that includes more for our fans to see and for opponents to be fearful of."
