ANN ARBOR - The Traverse City North Stars were well-represented at this week's NAHL Top Prospects Tournament all-star event at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube, helping Team North to a 3-0 run, capped by Wednesday's 5-2 triumph over Team Central.
Doug Clifford (Woodhaven, MI/Mahoning Valley NAHL) tied for the tourney lead with five points - all assists - including a pair of helpers on Wednesday. Nick Shkreli (Romeo, MI/Mahoning Valley NAHL) was among four players tied for second with four points, including a goal and three assists. Stars captain Travis White (Sterling Heights, MI/TC North Stars) did not record a point, but finished at plus-3 for the event.
Team North was the only 3-0 team, scoring a tourney-best 13 goals and surrendered an event-low six markers.
The North Stars return to action this weekend, hosting Motor City on Friday and Saturday at Centre ICE arena. Game times are set for 7 p.m. Friday's game will feature a visit from Kidsville News mascot Truman the Dragon and a post-game skate with the North Stars players, mascot Wild Cherry and Truman.
