Florida Fire Frogs News Release

TAMPA, FL: Two long balls from the Tampa Tarpons offset strong offensive third and fourth innings from the Florida Fire Frogs in a 7-3 loss to the Tarpons on Saturday night at Steinbrenner Field.

Riley Delgado had his team-leading 21st multi-hit game, going 2-5 with hits in his first two at-bats. He extended his hitting streak to six games and his on-base streak to 16, which is the new Fire Frogs standard. His infield single in the third and a subsequent throwing error by Tarpons third baseman Angel Aguilar enabled Shean Michel to score from second for a 1-0 Florida lead.

Tampa was quick to answer with three runs. Aguilar and Estevan Florial got on ahead of Oswaldo Cabrera, who swatted a three-run home run off RHP Matt Hartman to make it 3-1.

The Fire Frogs loaded the bases with two down in the fourth. Brett Langhorne's single through the middle off RHP Jio Orozco brought in Trey Harris and Drew Lugbauer to knot the game up at 3. Florida's second baseman reached twice on the evening.

The Tarpons four-spot in the fourth would provide the offense they needed. Jason Lopez singled in Pablo Olivares. Tyler Hill's three-run bomb to left extended their lead to 7-3.

Hartman (0-1) surrendered seven runs and six hits in his first Advanced-A start, making only two mistakes to Tampa hitters in four stanzas on the mound.

On the other side, Orozco (1-1) claimed his first Advanced-A win, scattering eight Fire Frogs hits, four walks, and three runs with six strikeouts in 5 and 1/3's frames.

The Fire Frogs bullpen shut down the Tarpons the rest of the way. RHP Brooks Wilson faced one over the minimum over three innings of work, fanning four. RHP Kurt Hoekstra twirled a five-pitch bottom of the eighth.

LHP James Reeves and RHP Kyle Zurak combined to blank Florida over the final 3 and 2/3's.

Drew Lugbauer notched a single and a double. Trey Harris got on-base three more times for the Frogs and scored a run. Zack Soria climbed aboard three times as well.

NEXT UP: Florida hopes to avoid a sweep behind the arm of LHP Hayden Deal (3-3, 1.64). He goes against Tampa's RHP Frank German (2-3, 4.26) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

REMINDER: The Fire Frogs return to Osceola County Stadium for a four-game series against the Dunedin Blue Jays on Monday, June 10. Our Belly Buster Monday festivities highlight the home stand.
