Tampa Bay Storm News Release
LAST TIME OUT In their last outing, the Gladiators fell to the Arizona Rattlers in the National Conference Championship by a final score of 82-41. In that game, WR Quentin Sims caught 14 passes for 172 yards, and three touchdowns in a losing effort. QB Arvell Nelson passed for 248 yards and three touchdowns.
WHO TO WATCH: GLADIATORS The AFL's reigning Playmaker of the Year Brandon Thompkins looks to make an impact right away as he settles into his first season in Cleveland. On defense, it's the return of former DL Willie McGinnis and his pass-rushing ability that will be key to disrupting the tandem of Hippeard-Hills for the Storm. DB Rayshaun Kizer returns home to Cleveland and anchors the ultra-talented secondary of the Gladiators.
WHO TO WATCH: STORM One of the AFL's stand-out WR's Joe Hills returns to Tampa Bay having come off his best season yet, a record-setting 161 catch, 2,020 receiving yard, and 58 touchdown effort, earning him First-Team All-Arena for the second-time of his career. Hills was also named the Offensive Player of the Year and Wide Receiver of the Year for his contributions on the field in 2016. The Storm also welcome QB Randy Hippeard, who passed for 2,966 yards, 65 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions in 11 games with the Orlando Predators in 2016.
