Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Swarm today announced that Co-Owner Andy Arlotta has been promoted to the role of President.
Arlotta, 36, has served as the Swarm's co-owner and vice president since 2008. The Whitefish Bay, Wis. native runs all aspects of the Swarm's day-to-day business operations including sales, sponsorship, marketing, community relations, broadcast, lacrosse operations and communications.
Arlotta also represents the Swarm as an Associate Governor in the NLL and is on the league's Properties Committee, which oversees television and sponsorship partnerships, and also sits on the Junior NLL Committee, which focuses on growing the game of box lacrosse at the youth level in the league's nine cities.
"Andy has been with the franchise since we purchased the Swarm in 2008, and he has gradually taken on more responsibility as he learned the business over the past five years," Swarm Owner and Governor John Arlotta said. "This promotion is well deserved and is recognition of the great job he has done in growing not only the Swarm franchise but also the sport of lacrosse in Minnesota."
Following the 2012 season, Arlotta was named the NLL's Executive of the Year, and in 2011, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal recognized Arlotta with the prestigious 40 Under Forty award, which honors business professionals under the age of 40 in the Twin Cities.
This summer, Arlotta was named a recipient of the Twin Cities Finest Award presented by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The award honors ten men and ten women in the Twin Cities, between the ages of 25 and 40, who have demonstrated success in their chosen field and commitment to their community.
In the local community, Arlotta serves as a board member on six non-profit organizations and has played an influential role in reintroducing the sport of lacrosse to the Native American Community in Minnesota. In 2010, he helped establish a weekly after school lacrosse program on the Prairie Island Indian Community and also co-founded Lax-4-Life, an overnight lacrosse camp open to boys and girls from all 11 Minnesota tribal communities.
Arlotta's work in the Native Community has earned praise both nationally and locally, which includes recognition at the White House during First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! In Indian Country initiative. Arlotta was also a recipient of the prestigious the Spirit of the People Award in 2012, which is presented to one individual annually by the Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce (MAICC).
