Strykers Comeback Falls Short 7-6

The Woodlands Strykers finished up their two game series against the Pump Jacks tonight in Kilgore. The team found themselves down early but fought hard to get back in the game before falling short 7-6.

The team scored their first two runs of the game in the fourth inning. Ricky Sanchez would lead the inning off with a single. Two batters later Brian Smith would hit a single. Two batters later, Taylor Taska would drive in both runners with a double. Robert Heep would score the third run of the game in the fifth inning. In the eighth inning, Daniel Homann hit into a fielders choice that scored Dirk Masters who had hit a single earlier in the inning. In the ninth inning, the Strykers would plate their final two runs. Dalton Perry would lead the inning off with a single. Two batters later, Heep would hit a single. Both runners would then score when pinch hitter Connor Kalisky would hit a double to left field.

Zach Heard started on the mound. He threw one inning and gave up two runs before leaving the game with a unspecified injury. Kael Jones then came in for three innings and recorded one strikeout. Austen Gunnels would follow Jones and pitch two innings recording two strikeouts. Martin Cronin and Nolan Riggs would come in for the final two innings, with each throwing one inning.
