Storm Welcome Back Amarri Jackson

September 17, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL) - Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired wide receiver Amarri Jackson and offensive lineman Raymond McNeil in exchange for future considerations, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

"We are happy to have Amarri back with the Storm," said Gooch. "He has the ability to make an immediate impact on the field and will increase the overall level of competition within our receiving corps."

Jackson (6-foot-5, 225 lbs., South Florida) returns to the Storm after spending the 2013 season with the Orlando Predators and the San Jose SaberCats, hauling in 44 passes for 603 yards and nine touchdowns. Jackson spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with the Storm, starting in 28-of-29 games and reeling in 202 receptions for 2,631 yards and 55 touchdowns. The 2011 season saw Jackson break Freddie Solomon's franchise rookie record for most touchdowns in a season with 35 and most receptions in a season with 125.

The Sarasota, FL native played collegiately at the University of South Florida from 2005 to 2007. He played in 31 games with the Bulls, catching 70 passes for 891 yards and five touchdowns.

McNeil (6-foot-2, 310 lbs., Fort Valley State) joins the Storm after spending the entire 2013 season with the San Jose SaberCats.

"We entered the season with a plan to bolster the offensive line," said Gooch. "Raymond has experience at the center position and we believe that he will help provide the necessary protection for our quarterbacks to be successful."

Last season, McNeil started in 12-of-15 games on an offensive line that finished ranked fifth in sacks allowed with 20. He has four years of AFL experience having also spent time with the Milwaukee Mustangs, Utah Blaze and Spokane Shock. Prior to joining the AFL, McNeil earned All-af2 honors in 2008 and 2009 as a member of the Milwaukee Mustangs.

McNeil played collegiately at Fort Valley State (GA) where he was an All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection. He would also go on to play in the Magnolia Gridiron Classic All-Star game.
