
Storm To host open tryout September 22

TAMPA - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm will host an open tryout for the 2008 AFL season at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22 at the University of Tampa - Pepin Stadium.
This one-day tryout is open to all interested players. All players will receive an opportunity to earn a chance to sign a professional contract with the Storm. In 2007 three players, John Capel, Hank Edwards and Khalid Naziruddin earned an invitation to training camp from the open tryouts. Naziruddin went on to earn Storm Rookie of the Year honors for the 2007 season. In addition, af2 teams and coaches from other indoor leagues will scout the camp.
Dave Ewart, Storm director of player personnel will direct the camp. Registration will take place at 10:00 a.m. the day of the tryout and the fee is $50 for players who pre-register online and $60 for those that register the day of the event. Payment must be by cash or certified check.
Directions to Pepin Stadium: From I 275, exit at Ashley Street/Downtown West. You are now on Ashley St. Turn right at the first traffic light on to Tyler. Tyler merges into Cass as you pass the Performing Arts Center and cross the Cass Street Bridge. Turn left at the next intersection on North Boulevard. Pepin Stadium is down the block on your left. From Kennedy Boulevard (Route 60), turn north onto North Boulevard, travel three blocks and Pepin Stadium is on the right.
