Storm Sign Former Pasco high star

TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed linebacker Darren Hambrick to the practice squad, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today. Wide receiver/linebacker Huey Whittaker was also released.

Hambrick, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound linebacker, is a local product from Pasco High school where he led the Pirates to its lone state title in 1992. He is the older brother of former National Football League running back Troy Hambrick. Darren spent five seasons in the NFL. He played with the Dallas Cowboys (1998-2000, 2001), the Carolina Panthers (2001) and the Cleveland Browns (2002).

He began his collegiate career with the University of Florida prior to transferring to the University of South Carolina. The Cowboys selected him in the fifth round, 130th overall, in the 1998 NFL entry draft. In five NFL seasons he played in 76 games and accumulated 216 tackles, three interceptions, three and a half sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
