Storm Falls in San Jose, Loses to the SaberCats 43-52

SAN JOSE, CA - The Tampa Bay Storm (8-8, 4-3) was defeated by the San Jose SaberCats (12-4, 5-1) on Friday night in front of 8,645 fans by a score of 43-52. The loss extended the team's losing streak to two games.
Both teams came out of the gate fast and furious, trading scores with the first half knotted at 28 apiece. The turning point came when San Jose recovered an onside kick in the third quarter. The SaberCats would score on the ensuing drive and stretch its lead to 14 points, a lead it would not give up for the rest of the game.
The Storm was led by quarterback Randy Hippeard who found all of his receivers. Hippeard would finish the night with 234 yards and six touchdowns, completing 18-of-31 passes. Wide receiver Joe Hills led the Storm with seven receptions for 81 yards and three touchdowns. He now has 33 receiving touchdowns on the season and ranks sixth all-time in Storm history for most receiving touchdowns in a season.
Quarterback Nathan Stanley led the San Jose offense, completing 24-of-41 passes for 291 yards and five touchdowns. His top receiver was Rod Harper who caught eight passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. SaberCats wide receiver Dominique Curry excelled in multiple phases of the game, catching five passes for 49 yards and three touchdowns. He would also rush twice for a pair of scores and recovered a pivotal onside kick.
UP NEXT - The team will take on the Spokane Shock at the Spokane Arena on Monday, July 21. Fans will be able to catch all of the action on ESPN2. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. EST.
