Tampa Bay Storm News Release

Milwaukee - For the second straight week, the Tampa Bay Storm were unable to take advantage of a great first quarter start, as they fell to the Milwaukee Mustangs to in front of 4,012 fans at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee, WI on Saturday night.

The Mustangs defense (2-5) recorded four straight second quarter stops, including three turnovers on four plays with two straight interceptions for touchdowns that seemed to put the game out of sight for the Storm. Milwaukee's offense added four rushing touchdowns in the win.

Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Huey Whittaker led all receivers with eight receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Milwaukee's Andre Jones stood out defensively for the Mustangs, recording six tackles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.

Veteran receiver Hank Edwards also had a hot start, catching three balls for 68 yards and one score before leaving the game early in the second quarter with an injury to his left hand. Edwards did not return to the game.

The Storm fall to 2-5 for just the third time in team history despite starting the game with a flurry, as Quarterback Brian Zybdniewski completed all four of his first quarter passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns filling in for starter Grant Gregory, who was sidelined this week en lieu of a sprained ankle suffered in the Week 7 loss to the Vigilantes.

The Storm had three defensive stops of their own throughout the game, limiting Mustang quarterback RJ Archer to just 162 yards and one touchdown passing. They also did not allow a touchdown pass during the first half, but their play could not make up for the several second quarter offensive miscues that led to Milwaukee's unassailable lead.

The Storm will head back out on the road again next week to renew the War on I-4, as they take on the Orlando Predators Friday, May 6th 2011 at the Amway Center in Orlando for the NFL Network Game of the Week. If you do not have the NFL Network, be sure to tune to 1250 AM-WHNZ for all of the Storm Radio Network's coverage starting at 7:30 PM EST.
