AUBURN HILLS, MICH. - David Saunders scored with 13 seconds remaining and Brad Selent missed a 60-yard field goal with no time left on the clock as the Tampa Bay Storm defeated the Detroit Fury 49-47 Saturday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. With the win Tampa Bay (5-8) keeps their playoff hopes alive, while the Fury's (1-12) misery continues as they drop their 10th in a row.

Shane Stafford hit Saunders who broke away from Al Hunt to get open in the back of endzone. Saunders led the team with 87 yards off of nine catches for three TDs on the night. Stafford finished the night going 25-of-40 for 253 yards and five TDs.

Detroit came out swinging in the first half, as Scott Semptimphelter hit Shawndel Tucker for an eight-yard score. R-Kal Truluck closed in on Stafford in the second quarter and forced him to fumble the ball, which Truluck recovered and scampered into the endzone giving Detroit a 14-0 lead. Semptimphelter completed the evening going 14-for-22 and 178 yards and three strikes.

Tucker caught TDs from eight, 29 and four yards and also returned a kickoff for 56 yards and finished with eight reception for 119 yards. The second-year player from Hawaii has led the team in receiving during the last two contests.

The Fury puts a wrap on the 2002 season on Friday, July 19 when the defending ArenaBowl champion Grand Rapids Rampage roll into town. Game time is set for 7:30 PM. For ticket information to the final regular season game, call (248) 377-0100 or log on to www.detroitfury.com.
