Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired wide receiver Emery Sammons, announced Vice President of Football Operations Jeff Gooch.
"Emery is a veteran receiver that will bring stability to our offense," said Gooch. "He has ArenaBowl experience and brings added leadership for the younger receivers on the team."
Sammons (6-foot-2, 195 lbs., Norfolk State) enters his sixth season in the Arena Football League and first in a Storm uniform. The former Norfolk State Spartan spent the past three seasons with the Philadelphia Soul, appearing in two of the past three ArenaBowl Championship games (2012 and 2013).
He began his AFL career in 2010, when he was a member of the ArenaBowl XXIII Champion Spokane Shock. Sammons has started in 29-of-55 games played, reeling in 197 passes for 2,313 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also has the ability to play defense, recording 28.0 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Prior to turning pro, Sammons spent three seasons (2004-06) at Norfolk State University. He finished his collegiate career ranked second in school history with 1,220 receiving yards.
The team reassigned wide receiver Jarvis Williams.
The Five-Time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm is in its 28th season in the Arena Football League. The Storm will host "Military Appreciation Night," when it hosts the Philadelphia Soul on Friday, May 22, on AMALIE Motor Oil Field at Amalie Arena.
